Crooks and capers: Based on the 1922 Denver Mint robbery, the self-guided excursion offers more than one twist.

“We have taken this true Denver crime story and turned it into a scavenger hunt with the premise being to find the stolen money,” says Robert Cashel, owner of Denver Inside and Out.

“On the route, you will be challenged to find hidden clues and unravel the riddle to figure out where your next stop will be,” Cashel adds. “Along the way, you’ll find yourself nose-to nose with some of the characters of this heist through live street theater.”

1922 Denver Mint Robbery Brought to the Streets of Downtown Denver

Denver Inside and Out launches new interactive walking tour
 

DENVER, CO – March 26, 2008 –  Denver Inside and Out has launched a new heritage tour based on the 1922 Denver Mint Robbery in which participants unwittingly become accessories in Denver’s most famous crime mystery. The walking tour takes place in downtown Denver and visits many of Denver’s most noted landmarks.

Using old fashioned elbow grease and shoe leather, participants get to unravel one of Colorado's most notorious crimes. Head scratching clues combined with characters from the heist who come to life through live street theater make this an experience participants will never forget.

“This is a great way for tourists and locals to discover what downtown Denver has to offer," said Amy Cashel, founder of Denver Inside and Out. "Participants get wrapped up in piecing together the clues as the Mint robbery is one of Denver’s most fascinating stories."

Starting March 26, 2008, The tour begins at Union Station and takes 2 ½-3 hours to complete at a leisurely walking pace. The cost of the tour is $40 for adults (12 and older), $35 for kids (6-11) and Free for kids age 5 and under. Reservations are required and can be made by e-mailing MrBig@DenverInsideandOut.com or by calling (303) 330-9871.

Check the web site for seasonal price specials. Group rates (more than 20) are available and beginning in October 2008 the tour will run six days a week except for major holidays.
